When you photograph someone I believe it is important to know something about your subject, particularly their fears and concerns. Almost everyone has a concern about how the camera will make them look. They may be worried that the camera will make them look fat, that the their nose will look crooked, or the acne that has recently flared up will be evident in the pictures. Each of these issues can be dealt with a variety of techniques so that you can minimize or eliminate the subjects concerns. One aspect that separates a knowledgeable photographer from someone inexperienced is the ability to deal successful with these issues that are important to the subject.
